Site Preparation and Grading

Site Preparation and Grading in Waco

Site preparation is the first real step in any build, and it decides how well everything after it goes. Innovationcongress clears the parcel, strips and stockpiles topsoil, and moves earth in a controlled cut and fill until the ground matches the engineer’s grading plan. The result is a compacted subgrade with the right pad elevations and drainage slopes, ready for footings, a slab, or paving across the Waco area.

Why Grading Matters on Waco Soil

The clay soils common around Waco move with moisture, so a pad that is not compacted and sloped correctly will telegraph problems into the structure above it. We grade for positive drainage away from the building, place structural fill in lifts, and test toward 95 percent of maximum dry density. A rough grade sets the major elevations, and the finish grade dials in the exact surface. Treating those as two steps is what keeps water and settlement from becoming your problem later.

Our Process

We call 811 and wait for the underground utilities to be marked, then clear and strip topsoil for reuse. From there we cut high spots, fill low spots, and compact the subgrade in lifts while checking density as we go. We finish with a graded, drainage-ready surface and haul off or redistribute spoil depending on how the cut and fill balances. Most residential pads move quickly once the plan and the weather cooperate.
